How America's major urban centers compare on incarceration rates

We're frequently asked about the incarceration rates of specific cities, a statistic that's unfortunately next-to-impossible to obtain. But we got as close as one can get: calculating the incarceration rates of the most populous counties in 39 states (all those where data was available). See how your city compares.

We're hiring a Policy Fellow!

The Prison Policy Initiative is seeking a recent law school graduate to join our team of five full-time staff members in shaping the future of the criminal justice reform movement. (We also expect to be posting a handful of other positions soon.) For the full listing, see www.prisonpolicy.org/jobs.html
