Maureen Turner of the Valley Advocate has published a great new overview of the movement to bring down the cost of calls home from prisons and jails.

She details both the national and the Massachusetts campaigns for lower phone charges, and interviews one of the local sheriffs, the Prison Policy Initiative, and Massachusetts state advocates. Of particular note is the section on the Hampden County jail, the subject of a video we made explaining that the jail charges one of the highest kickbacks in the country.
